Pocket Springs and Memory Foam

Best of both worlds

If you are a fan of pocket spring mattresses but want the added support and comfort that all of your friends say that memory foam brings then you can have the best of both worlds. Before you could only have one or the other, pocket sprung mattresses or you can have memory foam mattress but not both. Now it is all different.

A pocket sprung mattress is built up of coiled springs which are individually pocketed within the mattresses so that the springs act individually. Memory foam is made up of visco- elastic polyurethane material which reacts to body heat molding to the shape of your body offering support and relieves pressure pains.

Put the two mattresses together and you have the most luxurious, rich, floating on a cloud feeling when you are on your bed. There will be no tossing and turning trying to get yourself into a comfortable position in bed, although that cannot be said for the discomfort caused by a snoring partner.

Pocket sprung mattresses can contain anything from 600 springs to 1500 springs. This means that you will need to shop around for the right pocket spring/memory foam mattress for your ultimate comfort needs. The memory foam prevents you rolling together with your partner, supports your neck, back, shoulders and joints and is heat sensitive with an open cell structure to enable to air to flow at will.

There are a few rules to you mattresses when you first receive you mattress, such as when you first take delivery of your mattress, leave it four hours or more so that it can get some air circulating through the mattress prior to you lying on the mattress to test it out. I know you are dying to test it out, but hold your patience and try it later when you go to bed.

One of the downsides to having a pocket sprung mattress with Memory foam is that the memory foam is only on the one side of the mattress. Pocket springs can have a tendency to weaken over time causing a dip in the bed where the springs have become compressed. The best way to deal with this is turn the mattress over and round from time to time.

Turning a memory foam mattress and pocket sprung mattress may not be feasible due to the fact that when you turn over the mattress you will not have the memory foam on top once you have turned over the mattress. If you want to do this then maybe you need to buy a mattress topper for the other side. Then you can still have the best of both worlds.

It is also suggested that in order to keep your mattress in good condition, you might think about buying a good quality mattress protector which serves many functions. There are times if you have a coffee in bed on an occasion you may accidently spill some of it on your bed, or you may have the experience I did, where my cat urinated in my bed. A mattress protector is easy to remove and put into the washing machine for ease of cleaning.
